Really Great - FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What happened to allUP?
allUP is now Really Great. Same company and same goal of connecting amazing talent and top companies but a very different approach to how we solve this problem.
Why the change to Really Great?
We helped hundreds of companies make key hires in our time as allUP. Our biggest learning through all of this is that applying and getting jobs is more f*%ked than we could have ever imagined (and getting worse every day).
Hiring is built on the assumption that a resume is a trustworthy signal. AI broke that assumption. Candidates now use AI to tailor their resumes to every job and apply at scale. That is rational for any individual candidate. When everyone does it, the system collapses. Companies are overwhelmed by thousands of perfect-looking matches. Candidates get silence as hiring grinds to a halt. Both sides are stuck.
The fix everyone else is building is more AI filtering and automation: people processed by systems that cannot see what actually matters about them. It makes hiring more inhuman without making it work better.
Exactly zero people would ever describe the process of trying to get a new job as “Really Great”. Companies want to find really great people. People want to show what they are really great at and find really great opportunities. We believe hiring should be about celebrating the humanness of what makes people awesome to work with. Instead of compressing people into data points, we let you tell your story through video. This lets companies see everything you’re capable of and discover you for new opportunities.
How is getting a job on Really Great different from the old way of doing things?
More opportunity finding you. Less wasting time throwing your resume into the job application pile.
You pick the questions on Really Great you want to answer. Our system will give you feedback on your answers and help you optimize for the searches you want to be discovered in. You can retake, delete, or make your videos private any time you want.
Companies search interviews instead of resumes. They can see your first name but not your last name. They can see descriptions of the types of companies you’ve worked at but not the company names. After watching your videos they can request to be introduced to you. It’s up to you if you then want to accept the introduction, share your full name and work history, and have a real conversation with them.
Do I need to create a new account for Really Great?
No, your allUP login and password will work on Really Great.
What about the videos I recorded for allUP?
You have full control of these videos. The privacy settings you had on allUP have been retained on Really Great.
One important change is that public profiles now only show first name and summaries of work history (no actual company names).
You can use your allUP login and password on Really Great and control access to any of the videos you’ve already recorded.
Can I add new videos to my profile?
Absolutely. You can see the types of searches companies are performing and answer questions that will help you show up in those searches.
What if I am currently in a job?
Most of the people on allUP (and now Really Great) have built and maintained their profiles while they weren’t actively looking for new roles. Having a profile can open the door to a lot of different opportunities beyond just full time roles. We’ve had people be discovered for consulting, advising and even speaking engagements. It’s not any different than having a LinkedIn profile while you’re not actively looking for a new role. Given how volatile the job market has been, most professionals feel like it’s smart to be discoverable whatever opportunities might come their way.
What types of companies are searching on Really Great and what are they searching for?
Searching videos is so much richer than what companies have historically been able to search for with resumes. What we saw on allUP was instead of the traditional broad generic searches (“Marketing Manager”, for example) companies would have really specific searches that were combinations of experience and attributes. Real examples would be searches like “Marketing person that has built a brand at a startup and has used AI” or “Biz Ops person who can deal with ambiguity and help scale process”. Being able to instantly hear the stories from people that fit that search is incredibly powerful and would drive those companies to request introductions to those people.
To protect our communities' privacy we do not let anyone search by name or by companies so “show me Sarah Smith” or “Microsoft Employees” is not allowed.
Historically we’ve mostly worked with fast growing startups and have a waitlist of companies waiting for access to Really Great.
